Now that "Black Friday" has past, it's time to think even more seriously about holiday gift-giving. If your budget won't stretch far enough to pay for an actual cruise this year, how about some cruise travel reading material to tide you over until the economy catches up to your wanderlust?
Naturally I would recommend any of the Fodor's "Gold Guides" that cover cruise travel. After all, I write them and Fodor's editors are the best in the business. However, don't take my word for it... the San Francisco Chronicle's Deputy Travel Editor Spud Hilton says, "Unlike the travel guide companies that don't categorize cruises as 'serious travel,' Fodor's offers a series of books that are handy for anyone planning a voyage in Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Most have been updated within the past 12 to 18 months, but make sure to get the most recent editions of European Ports of Call, The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises, Caribbean Ports of Call 2009, The Complete Guide to European Cruises, Bermuda 2009, and Alaska Ports of Call 2009."
