Cruise Travel: Going North, To Alaska

It may be a bit late in the season to be talking about a cruise to Alaska, but that is exactly where Cruise Diva is headed later this week. My cruise, aboard Holland America Line's Westerdam will be spending a day in Glacier Bay, the highlight of any Alaska cruise. Naturally, there will be a Cruise Diva “Blog From The Bay” that you can catch here next week.

In the meantime, if you are planning an Alaska cruise of your own for next year, Holland America Line has announced an enhancement to their 2010 Alaska program aboard Amsterdam with the addition of Glacier Bay to the 14-day Alaskan Adventurer itinerary. A day of cruising spectacular Glacier Bay National Park, always a great favorite, has been added to eight of the nine 14-day Alaskan Adventurer cruises in 2010. On those cruises, you will enjoy a double glacier experience with visits to Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier. One departure on July 12 will visit the twin Sawyer Glaciers in picturesque Tracy Arm fjord along with Hubbard Glacier.

“We recently acquired additional permits to visit Glacier Bay,” said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales, and guest programs. “By adding them into the Amsterdam’s new 14-day itinerary—which already contains the exciting new ports of Homer, Kodiak and Anchorage—we’re offering the best of the best in southeast Alaska.”

The 14-day Alaskan Adventurer cruise departs on nine round-trip sailings from Seattle May 17 through Sept 6, 2010. Historic ports of call include Ketchikan, Skagway, Sitka, Victoria, British Columbia, and new for 2010, Anchorage, Homer, Kodiak and Juneau.

Cruise Diva will be pre-cruising for two days in Seattle before sailing to the ports of Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Victoria (British Columbia), as well as Glacier Bay and you're invited to follow her progress. For a taste of what to see and do, we share Alaska Ports of Call on CruiseDiva.com.
