Cruise News: Hurricane Rina Alters Itineraries

Hurricane season isn't "over" until Nov 30th, but that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a let-up of storm activity in the Caribbean any time soon. The National Hurricane Center indicates that Hurricane Rina could gather enough strength to make it a Category 3 hurricane today as it makes a northwestward turn toward the Yucatan Peninsula and Cozumel. As the storm moves near or over the eastern Yucatan Peninsula tomorrow, it is expected to dump 8 to 16 inches of rain on the area, including Cozumel, through Friday.

A few more cruise ship itinerary alterations we've learned about (see Carnival Cruise Lines' changes below):

Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas will not call in Cozumel on Friday as scheduled. Instead, the ship will visit Nassau, Bahamas.

A colleague aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Star reports that the ship will stay at sea today instead of making a scheduled visit to Belize City, Belize. The ship will try to call at Belize City tomorrow.

Princess Cruises has canceled Island Princess' Friday call at Grand Cayman in favor of Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Celebrity Cruises has altered Celebrity Millennium's itinerary; however, we have no specific details yet.
