This is also not a "rare occurrence" as someone commented, it happens often if you follow the news.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2976890652841490353.post-65169608279706977342011-07-08T07:52:43.245-04:002011-07-08T07:52:43.245-04:00To the poster who commented "rare event"...To the poster who commented "rare event" - this seems to happen on every other cruise these days, NOT a rare occurrence. Plus I agree, no one falls from a cruise ship, they jump. Plus the original article missed many facts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2976890652841490353.post-9344939293050135822011-06-27T16:59:09.474-04:002011-06-27T16:59:09.474-04:00My family was on the NCL Spirit when the man jumpe...My family was on the NCL Spirit when the man jumped from the top deck. We were on deck 7 and my 16 year old son tossed a life ring back. It took 40 minutes to get him out of the water and to the medical center. The NCL Spirits crew did a GREAT job for such a rare event.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2976890652841490353.post-24931624853529686602011-06-27T16:44:44.390-04:002011-06-27T16:44:44.390-04:00Few minor points - he jumped from the 7th deck. He was drunk and had been fighting with his girlfriend (or wife?).

The rescue boat was launched in 4 minutes (great response from NCL!) But the first rescue boat was swamped by a passing ship. A second rescue boat was launched who actually retrieved the man I think closer to 40 min. after he jumped. After being treated in medical the man was sent to Venice. I assume that was where he was from.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2976890652841490353.post-8468290970884097612011-06-27T11:53:28.420-04:002011-06-27T11:53:28.420-04:00It was a male passenger. The rescue boats were deployed and the ship stopped and turned around. The man did suffer injuries and was sent to the hospital after being treated onboard after his rescue.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
