After propulsion problems caused Celebrity Cruises to cancel the remainder of
Celebrity Millennium's Alaska season, the ship is on the move. Presently in the Pacific off the west coast of Mexico with only crew on board,
Celebrity Millennium is bound for Freeport in the Bahamas where the propulsion pod that caused its problems will be replaced. Also headed to Grand Bahama Shipyard from Europe is a new 250-ton Rolls-Royce Mermaid pod to replace the defective one.
Scheduled to enter the shipyard's dock on Sept. 6th for what is expected to be a 78-hour process to replace the pod,
Celebrity Millennium should be ready to leave on Sept. 11th and sail to San Diego, again with only crew on board. The ship will then embark passengers in San Diego on Sept 22nd to begin a Panama Canal Cruise that ends in Fort Lauderdale.
