Holland America Line’s Half Moon Cay private island is a favorite port for many passengers, especially since over the years numerous improvements and amenities have been added alongside the sugary sand beach. It hasn’t been too many years since two-story cabanas were added overlooking the crystal clear water and the “pirate ship” bar landed beachside.
After tendering ashore from
Koningsdam, we followed our noses to the island’s latest innovation—the Lobster Shack, where for $20 you can dine on a Spiny Lobster with Caribbean Coconut Beans and Rice accompanied by Pineapple Salsa and Caribbean Sofrito Salasa. Created by Holland America’s Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, the perfectly prepared lobster tastes as good as it smells… and where else can you get such a great deal on a grilled lobster lunch?
Don’t worry, the complimentary beach barbecue is just as good as ever, but it’s nice to have such a delicious option.
