While Bingo, trivia contests, and the casino are all drawing crowds here on Nieuw Amsterdam, two of the most popular centers of activities on board are the Digital Workshop and Culinary Arts Center.Digital Workshop
Introduced several years ago by Holland America, the Digital Workshop, which focuses on using Microsoft Windows programs, offers classes in everything from selecting the right computer to transferring photos from your camera to it and then sharing them via email and the Internet. The classes are interactive and “Techspert” Chris (pictured here) is on hand during scheduled sessions to answer questions and assist while students work on their projects.
Culinary Arts Center
Holland America Line is rightfully proud of their chefs and, in addition to preparing meals onboard, they generously share their expertise in the Culinary Arts Center so guests can take some of their cooking secrets home. It’s not just about food, though. Nieuw Amsterdam’s Party Planner Kyle has presented sessions this week on entertaining, such as how to host a wine and cheese party, and even the Nieuw Amsterdam florist has taken the stage to offer tips and tricks in the art of flower arranging.
