Unfortunately, tipping is something cruise passengers can't escape from these days without an embarrassing trip to the reception desk to adjust the amount automatically charged to their onboard account, or eliminate it entirely if they prefer to tip with cash. Like other lines have done recently, Princess Cruises is raising their "recommended" gratuities.Effective on voyages departing on or after Jan 1, 2016, the new daily gratuity charge will be $13.95 (up from $12.00) per guest for mini-suites and suites, and $12.95 (up from $11.50) per guest for interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms. This gratuity will be shared among staff, including all waitstaff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and housekeeping staff across the fleet. The good news is that you can avoid the increase if you currently hold a reservation and prepay the gratuities by Oct 15, 2015.
