Koningsdam—So Entertaining!

Gone are the ho-hum song-and-dance shows in a typical ship’s theater aboard Holland America Line’s Koningsdam. In its place on the ship’s World Stage, which is similar to a theater in-the-round, are comedy and high energy production shows with contemporary themes—and on our sailing, Frozen Planet Live, featuring live music to accompany stunning footage from BBC’s Frozen Planet.

In Billboard Onboard on Koningsdam’s Music Walk we enjoyed a diverse selection of music from great standards, the British Invasion, hot country sounds, and hits from the 60s and 70s, to the Beatles Hits, a piano celebration featuring the pianist duo, and tunes that were “never #1.” Right down the Music Walk passageway, onstage at the Lincoln Center Stage were performances of Classic Favorites, La Música Latina, and Bernstein to Bublé.

With three shows a night, our favorite entertainers by far were B.B. King’s All Stars (pictured above). The dance floor filled when the band and singers rocked out with the Memphis sound of rhythm and blues, Motown hits, and more.

Holland America’s new Koningsdam comes alive after dark and has certainly hit the musical sweet spot with something for everyone.
