Twiggy to Christen Seabourn Sojourn

The Yachts of Seabourn has announced that Twiggy will be the Godmother of its newest yacht, Seabourn Sojourn, at a glamorous naming ceremony hosted on board on the River Thames Friday, June 4, 2010. On Saturday, June 5, The Yachts of Seabourn has donated Seabourn Sojourn to the non-profit Breast Cancer Haven as the venue for an exclusive fundraising gala event to celebrate the charity’s 10th anniversary. Following an early morning transit of the River Thames on Friday, Seabourn Sojourn will position mid-river at Greenwich for the two days of inaugural celebrations, and will sail from there on its maiden voyage on Sunday, June 6.

In case you've forgotten, or don't remember anyone older than Tyra, Twiggy exploded onto the international modeling scene as a London teenager in 1966. She went on to define the term ‘supermodel’ and to become the icon of 1960s style worldwide. In the early 1970s she became an actress and singer and in the 1980s she took Broadway by storm. She designs her own clothing and bed linen lines in the UK and has recently launched her ‘Twiggy London’ collection in the United States on the Home Shopping Channel. An ardent campaigner for animal welfare and breast cancer support, Twiggy’s renowned elegance and style perfectly complement the values of Seabourn, reflected in the gracious lines and sophistication of Seabourn Sojourn.

Seabourn Sojourn is the second of the three new, ultra-luxurious vessels to be launched by the Yachts of Seabourn in a three-year period. After departing on its Maiden Voyage from Greenwich, Seabourn Sojourn's ‘Northern Star Sojourn’ cruise will visit Scotland, Denmark, Iceland, the Norwegian Sea, Norway, and the Netherlands. The voyage ends on June 20 in Dover, England.
