When Azamara Quest blasted off on her maiden cruise and we sailed north from Miami, we knew we were in for a treat, but we didn't know just how special until the captain announced that Cape Canaveral was within view from our ship's port side and we were in count-down mode for the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. We were thrilled with a once-in-a-lifetime experience--to see a brilliant shuttle launch from a cruise ship at sea.
While upon the "blue sea" we had the best view of an extraordinary man-made "bright star." It was certainly quite a show!
However, I want to share another and even more impressive once-in-a-lifetime view of the Space Shuttle's final launch. NeilMonday wrote on YouTube, "Flying from Orlando, FL I had the rare opportunity to be able to watch Discovery's final launch as it embarks on STS-133."
This video is remarkable.
