A Fresh Breeze in Miami

Fresh, tropical, and fun. While Carnival Breeze spent a season sailing the Mediterranean after her introduction last summer, the newest vessel in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet wasn’t christened until yesterday in her home port of Miami. We’re glad they waited and were honored to be among the invited guests.

Godmother Tracy Wilson Mourning, founder of the Honey Shine mentoring program for young girls, wife of NBA legend Alonzo Mourning, and mother of that adorable little fellow pictured here who joined her on stage, is not only a hero to the young ladies she calls “Honey Bugs,” but an inspiration to us all.

During the gala Carnival Breeze naming ceremony we learned about the Honey Shine program and how young participants are encouraged to meet their goals. Ms. Wilson Mourning says, “Anything is possible” for participants in the workshops and summer program. The girls consider her another mother—one who encourages them to find strength, seek knowledge, and earn respect. Many of the young women who volunteer in the program were participants once themselves.

Congratulations to Carnival Cruise Lines upon the christening of their new Carnival Breeze and to Ms. Wilson Mourning for setting such a fine example to the girls who look up to her and strive to follow in her footsteps.
