Just In Time For Christmas: The Chipmunks Go Cruisin’

Most of us probably remember the song “Christmas Don’t Be Late,” sung by Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, the infamous Chipmunks. I can’t recall the first time I heard it, but I’ll never forget how annoying it was when my younger brothers sang along.

And now they’re back (the Chipmunks, not my brothers) with another holiday treat. Mark your calendar for the Dec 16 release date of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED! Produced by Fox 2000 Pictures, it was shot aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Dream.

Filming took place primarily on Carnival Dream’s open decks with scenes featuring actor Jason Lee (reprising his role as Dave Seville) and the antics of the three chipmunks shot within the ship’s outdoor recreation areas. The film preview below provides a peek at their “Fun Ship” adventures.

Tropical ports on the Carnival Dream’s western Caribbean itinerary, including Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, and Costa Maya, also provided a stunning backdrop for many of the movie’s shipboard scenes.

The movie looks cute and should be a hit with little cruisers. It’s also the ultimate product placement for Carnival... don’t be surprised if your kids beg for a cruise in their Christmas stockings after seeing the film. A hula hoop just won’t measure up.
