What To Expect: Port Days on A Cruise

Arriving in port
The Captain deftly inches his vessel alongside the pier as line handlers scurry to grab the ropes and secure them. The gangway appears and everyone is anxious to proceed ashore. But first there is a delay until the announcement that the ship has "cleared."

What's that all about? And what is there to do ashore? Should you sign up for a shore excursion or tour on your own?

Cruise Diva answers those and other frequently asked questions in Port Days on A Cruise.

They don't "grab the ropes and and secure them"! They haul in the lines and make them fast.
