And the Winning Name is “Power Drencher”

Our congratulations go out to Judy Yee of Las Vegas, Nevada, the winner of Carnival’s “Name the Bucket” contest!

Judy’s entry of “Power Drencher” received more votes than any other, meaning that her creative moniker will now be displayed on the massive 300-gallon water bucket that will take center stage in the sprawling WaterWorks aqua park on the new Carnival Magic, set to debut May 1, 2011.

The “Power Drencher”–the largest water bucket afloat—will be one of several splash-tastic features available within the WaterWorks facility, which will also include an enclosed 320-foot-long Twister slide and the DrainPipe, an exhilarating funnel-shaped water attraction.

In addition to having her name associated with a signature feature on Carnival’s most innovative “Fun Ship,” Judy also received a prize pack containing a digital camera, beach bucket, towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Aside from serving as a clever way to name this giant water attraction, the contest raised thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with Carnival donating $1 for each entry and vote, as well as for each Facebook fan who “liked” the contest.

WaterWorks is sure to be one of the most popular features on the new 3,690-passenger Carnival Magic which is scheduled to enter service from Europe May 1st. The ship will operate a series of seven- to 12-day Mediterranean cruises before repositioning to Galveston, Texas, for 7-day Caribbean voyages beginning Nov. 14, 2011, becoming the port’s largest year-round cruise ship.
