Queen Mary 2’s Transatlantic Fashion Week Debuted Glamour on the High Seas

Luxury cruise line Cunard’s flagship ocean liner Queen Mary 2 arrived in New York after the second annual Transatlantic Fashion Week brought together some of the most glamorous names in the fashion industry. The crossing, which left Southampton on August 31, 2017, included seven days of runway shows, inspiring talks, glamorous dinners, and exclusive unveilings from fashion icons and leaders.

One of the highlights of the voyage included two runway shows from British Fashion Designer Julien Macdonald, who is known for dressing some of the world’s best-known entertainers including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Celine Dion. And award-winning students from the revered Parsons School of Design debuted their featured collections to passengers on board the luxury liner.

Fashion historian and style commentator Colin McDowell held a series of Q&A’s and discussions on fashion among the royals, illustration workshops and style inspirational during the voyage. In addition, Karl Dunkley, the founder and CEO of Royal Warrant holder Grosvenor Shirts, Jermyn Street, gave a talk on the craftsmanship behind a classic tailored shirt.

The voyage also included pop up shops including luxury swimwear designer Melissa Odabash, luxury British brand Mulberry, Lucy Choi London designer shoes (niece of the legendary Jimmy Choo,) and exclusive jewelry from fashion icon Iris Apfel.

Guests also got an exclusive preview of Drawing on Style: Three Masters of Elegance. The preview, in association with Clarendon Fine Art features historic and current fashion illustrators such as Kenneth Paul Block (1924-2009) who worked in the late 20th century with Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and others, Bill Donovan, a contemporary American illustrator, has worked with Vogue, Dior and The New York Times and Jason Brooks who counts Elle and Chanel among his clients.
